1 in 5 people will experience chronic pain in their lives, and having had chronic pain myself I know well the debilitating effects it can have across a person’s whole life, from relationships and ability to work.
Chronic pain can also cause massive depression and anxiety as well as trauma due to changes in lifestyle. I found I could no longer surf or hike like I used to, which had a direct impact on my mental health and wellbeing.
Getting assistance to adapt and manage the grief and loss to these changes and pain can be vital in readjusting to living a new life, even if we will miss elements of the older one. I am to teach strategies to make these adjustments as well as navigate the issues chronic pain and lifestyle changes cause to ourselves and our families.
Working with me also ensures you are connecting with someone who has had a similar experience, with some level of understanding of the impact this has had on your life. One thing many of my clients tell me is how they struggle or feel dismissed by other health professionals who just don’t get them.
