ADHD Assessment in the Riverina

January 5, 2024by Matthew0

As can be seen in the media, more and more people are realising they are neurodivergent or have children that may be. In rural areas of NSW, such as Young and Cowra there are massive waitlists and difficulties getting assessments.

It is a lesser known fact the qualified Social Workers can do many aspects of these assessments. I have been working with doing brief IQ/Cognitive tests, ADHD and ADD assessments, as well as supporting NDIS and DSP assessments with Adaptive Behaviour Testing.

These tests can be difficult but provide the needed results to help make or recommended another diagnosis. Sometimes tests lead to more, specialist testing. As we are seeing more areas needing this evidence to meet criteria JUST to access funding, we are dealing with a difficult double edged sword.

Therefore it is imperative testing also captures an accurate picture of the difficulties a person faces day to day. This then makes up the part where we paint this picture to really adovocate for funding increases.

More about Us

I entered the field of mental health after going through my own experiences a number of years ago. This created a passion to begin assisting others as I found it difficult to find and connect with professionals who didn’t get nor attempted to take the time to listen to and understand my story.
